A Westminster Hall Parliamentary debate on the UK Photonics Industry took place on 25 January 2017. During the debate there were several mentions related to the CDT in Applied Photonics. The work in Photonics at Heriot-Watt, Strathclyde and Glasgow Universities was mentioned as was the work by CDT AP supervisor Professor Duncan Hand. The work at NPL on counterfeit textiles worked on by our alumni John Molloy was given as an example of photonics technology. Jo Johnston, MP Minister for Universities, Science research and Innovation mentioned the work of IDC Optics and Photonics Technology (predecessor of CDT) and said "Too often the photonics sector is overlooked" Hear, Hear, we completely agree!
