The Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Applied Photonics is a consortium of academic and industrial researchers with the objective of supporting industrially-informed doctoral research projects related to photonics and optics. Any company with a research activity in the UK is eligible to participate. Our leaflet provides full details of the level of financial support required to host a project, along with further information and contact details of staff in the Centre.
The Academic Supervisor can be based at any of the 5 partner Universities - Strathclyde, St Andrews, Glasgow, Dundee or Heriot-Watt.
Ideally the proposal would be discussed in detail with the proposed Academic Supervisor, however, this is not essential as a Supervisor can be appointed at a later stage.
The FAQ page provides more detailed information on what the EngD programme involves and what is required of the company.
